Reliability and performance are the pinnacles of the Peterbilt 389 model. This capable truck is innovatively designed with a lightweight body to maximize aerodynamics and efficiency. The reliability of the Peterbilt 389 model has made it a staple for years at our Allstate Peterbilt Group locations throughout the Midwest.
There’s a reason the Peterbilt 389 model is called “the Icon of the Highway.” This popular Peterbilt model is equipped to handle many long hour stretches on the road. The spacious interior is functional, yet comfortable with superior fit and finish.
The Peterbilt 389 model was built with driver convenience in mind. This truck is equipped for the Peterbilt SmartNav system, which utilizes Bluetooth technology to provide drivers with access to vehicle data and entertainment features without having to take their eyes off the road. The charcoal finish on the dash reduces glare and prevents scratching and fading.
Storage is plentiful on the Peterbilt 389 truck. Both the Low Roof and UltraCab sleeper options come with shelving, cabinets, and plenty of overhead LED lighting and a powerful HVAC. With the Peterbilt 389, you can experience many of the luxuries of home on the road.
The Peterbilt 389 can be equipped for the SmartNav system, which includes a 7-inch touch screen for drivers allowing them access to real-time vehicle data, GPS, and a fully integrated audio system with satellite radio, MP3 players, iPod/iPhone, or another device that connects via USB port. The SmartNav system also has Bluetooth connectivity, so drivers can control these features hands-free.
The SmartNav system contains other helpful features for driver safety and convenience. The truck monitoring feature provides real-time data like fuel flow rate, air pressure, temperature, as well as auxiliary transmission oil temperature, and trailer reservoir air pressure. It has four camera ports, allowing drivers to install and access video from up to four cameras. The cameras are capable of activating automatically when the driver initiates the turn signal or reverse gears.
The Peterbilt 389 model is designed for a powerful engine for maximum power and weight benefits, resulting in optimal fuel efficiency. The Peterbilt 389 can be equipped with the following engine options:
The PACCAR MX-13 engine offers up to 500 horsepower and 1,850 pound-feet of torque, while still providing lightweight material weight benefits. In other words, this engine boasts a high power to weight ratio with low fuel consumption.
The Peterbilt 389 can be equipped for compressed natural gas (CNG) systems with the Cummins ISX15 engine. The Cummins ISX15 is the industry leader in fuel economy. It can achieve up to 600 horsepower with up to 2,050 pound-feet of torque.
The Peterbilt 389 truck model comes with three Low Roof and UltraCab sleeper options. The UltraCab sleeper options include 58”, 72”, & 78”, and the Low Roof options include 44”, 58” or 72” sleepers. Each cab features a dark charcoal dash with Coachman grain designed to reduce glare and resist scratching and fading.

The 78” sleeper is our largest sleeper option available on the Peterbilt 389 and only comes in an UltraCab configuration. The 44” sleeper is our most lightweight option without sacrificing comfort or amenities. This sleeper includes a comfortable 31” coil spring mattress and LED dome and reading lights for quality illumination and power conservation.
The 44”, 58”, 72”, and 78” sleepers all come with a great deal of storage including a refrigerator, shelves for a microwave, coffee maker, pantry drawers and cabinets, desk space, and a liftable bunk for additional storage. All of our sleepers also include room for a standard or flat-screen television.
